Funny, I would've thought it takes more courage to join the military than try kimchi. :)

I hear what you're saying though. And rereading my first comment, it comes off quite harsh. My apologies to my wife's cousin's friend! I just love Korean food so much...

It's all about saving money to some service members, if not, just keeping their comfort levels up. I cooked enough grilled cheese sandwiches, hamburgers and omelets to know some folks just can't be bothered with something new. It takes some courage to open your mind, and stomach, to new things.

The phrase was unintentional, yep. It's mainly due to my bad collection of slang and sayings. I take from movies, interactions and listening to people talk. It fits the military mindset to pick up and reuse what we can.

Word on the eating out rec. While visiting us in Korea, my wife's cousin met up with a friend (a U.S. servicewoman) of hers who came up to Seoul from Pyeongtaek to see her. They went out to eat...at the U.S. base in Seoul. Really? In a city with tens of thousands of freakin' delicious restaurants, you choose more of the same? Get out there and explore your home.
