Turbulance - I have read the reply on turbulance & the analogy given , but what actuly causes turbulance I guess its something to do with the wind??
Also is there a better time of the year to fly in order to reduce turbulance & would sitting in a particular place in the plane reduce turbulance? You may have guessed by now that I hate turbulance!!

Somebody once told me that the sign of impending doom is the Captain paging the head steward and requesting their presence in the cockpit - that unless the plane is going down they don't wanna seen them. Is this true? Must I remember to panic if I ever hear that over the paging system?

Surprised to hear that about O'Hare. My recent experience *inside* the international terminal was a nightmare. Though the landing was smooth and on time. :)

Thanks for the answer Lance! It seems so ridiculous. Although I use airplanes a lot in my travels, I would prefer if the costs went up and the right people were paid the right wages. I have tons of questions, but I'll let others chime in.

And thanks too for the pun. I am a sucker for good puns - and that was a good one! :)
