The quote "This statistic can be skewed when people who can sign their name are counted as literate, even when they can’t read or write much else".Really pissed of actually. Statistic counted by UNICEF & you are working for them. Seems like you people do need to get more educate yourself. Yes I mean it because you are wrong. Can you really confirm that there is no violence in your country? How do you calculate the education qualities? What is the base of your education that reflects good at any sense?

Sorry to say, you are not familiar & also can not adopt in totally different situations. Also
you are talking with your perspective only. You also did not care about the situation & area where you have been there for some issues. So it should not mean by any reasons that all over in this country is same.

Sadly, I had a similar moment in Fiji. I'm also glad you vocalized this phenomenon.

All I can say is I'm happy you are finding a way to put all of this into words!!!
Just realizing these things takes a lot, to actually express them like you have done means a lot. I, as you know have encountered feelings that are similar but struggle to come to terms with them and the best way to start is actually figuring out how to articulate them.

This reminds me of the part in Monster's Inc. when Boo witnesses Sully being a monster and is scared and then how Sully felt when he realized it. We all have moments that we aren't proud of. This is a great article because we shouldn't always "when in Rome......"
we don't want to loose who we are or where we come from.

A) people here get annoyed if we repeat directions or orders too many times, unless they want something to be repeated ;)

B) I HAD to resolve to an act of violence in order to make a point. A young, rich, 'educated' and drunken boy was driving rashly and he ended up crashing into our car from the back. The only people in the car were me, Debapriya and my driver. People on the road hardly said anything because the guy was from a rich home AND we were young girls, so, it didn't really matter much. I stepped out of the car, marched over to the other car, banged on the hood, slapped him and yelled my head off. People took notice and THEN AND THEN ONLY did they feel the need to 'chide' the boy (not even in raised voices).

After a moment, when I finally cooled off, a horrible feeling crept up within me. I shouted like a woman in a fish market and everyone, including my friend, saw the ugly side of me. But I had to resort to violence in order to be heard and seen. It wouldn't make a difference to knock sense into that youth through conversation because we could've been seriously injured.
I'm not saying what you and I did were nice, but at times one is driven to the extreme to act the way you or I did.

Hello Panda,

Only 3 months left? My, how time flies. I agree that violence is not the answer, but I'm struggling with that concept now as I'm training my young dogs. The frustration of not being able to properly communicate constanting builds, until a particular moment (like catching one trotting on the kitchen counter) makes you snap. Womping my dog on the butt feels all wrong; the fear and confusion in her eyes tells me I'm teaching her violence rather than correcting a behavior. I think it's all positive reinforcement for me here on out...lets just hope I can stay iron-willed through Miss Piggy's next counter dance.
