In a clip from one of the most fascinating BBC series I’ve seen in awhile, Human Planet, these Dorobo hunters prepare themselves to steal a kill from a pride of lions in Southern Kenya.

The Dorobo have been practicing these hunting and tracking techniques for thousands of years, but today, hunting in Kenya is illegal. The law was made for big game hunters, but has been applied to local tribes as well. In the 21st century, wildlife conservation is ironically interfering with the proliferation of ways of life just like this one. In a few years, these clips may be all that is left of these cultures.

Stealing meat from lions is pretty badass — I don’t know about you but I still freak out when I see rats in the subway…
