Your article gave me some real insight and gave me a different view versus the one the media tends to depict. This has really opened me up to some new possibilities for my life!! Our diplomats are frequently maligned as aloof, selfish and self centered, and everyone hears the stories of diplomats neglecting their US citizens and duties. I believe you were fortunate to have found a US diplomat and his family who enjoyed your company and your husbands and made some admirable efforts to interact on a friendship basis and not as cold bureaucrats. Some of those intimate dinner and dancing sessions were truly unique. Michelle
