I love this piece. Cynthia, can you tell me more about the law you mention from the 1990's? I have thought about getting dual citizenship but I have no idea where to start. My parents are both from Mexico.

Why do you say that? Do you think being Mexican a negative?

I enjoyed reading your article a lot. I'm pretty sure I am going to be finding myself in similar situation soon. I was born Mexican, but have lived in the states since I was 2 months old now 24 I will be making a return and I know it's not going to be easy at all even if my documentation is already set, culturally I have an uphill battle to go.

With that said I am looking forward to reading about your experience's in Mexico. There are definitely not enough stories up of people like ourselves that return to their homeland and the struggles that go with it.

lovely read..funny...that class system is one of the more enduring hangovers from the Spanish racism of the Conquest. But just speaking to everyone, even in incorrect Spanish, is the best thing you can do. And pay a fair living wage...and don't go nude (except in Zipolote)...and don't put up with sexist caca, even if you are a local. (Have you yet been asked by the taxi driver if you have kids and when you say no, he says he has a bunch and can "give you one"?)

Enjoyed your post, I guess I get called a güero allot when I am in Puebla, but I never feel is in disrespect. I am happy to call many "poblanos" friends and look forward to each visit there. Anyway, I am pleased you used my photographs for your post.
