Checked out the "yoga illegal in Malaysia" dealy. Turns out it isn't illegal per se, although supposedly many of Malaysia's Muslims will heed the fatwa of Muslim authorities in the country as yoga may "destroy the faith of a Muslim". Hmmm.

The bit about the popping out of the bushes is exactly right. 10 minutes into my routine in Delores Park (San Francisco) and the men are falling on me like mad dogs.

Not a bad thing, really.

Terrific article, Claire.

Yeah, the bush-popping phenomenon is really something. Do 30 minutes of yoga in a public place and beautiful people appear out of thin air.

(Of course, Nick, in Cairo it might be a Muslim Brotherhood recruiter who pops out of the alley.)

Great post - enough to make any traveller start practising yoga. Especially in the park, even if only to watch all the yogis pop out from behind their secluded bushes!

Nice article. I tried yoga for the first time just last week - it's harder than I thought! Like anything that requires a lot of practice, good yoga practitioners make it look easy. It's definitely something that I would like to do more of...especially that I'm getting on in my years!
