No Bob Marley? War, One Love, Hallelujah, and Get Up, Stand Up - all great ones to start off.

And I have to plug for John Mellencamp. He's always been a big supporter of mid-western farmers. His Rain on the Scarecrow was the anthem of my area in the '80s.

Like Rodney Dangerfield, the Hoff gets no respect...

To be super-duper obvious and unoriginal, John Lennon's Imagine has to be on the album...I mean, it's just true, no matter how you look at it.

Imagine there's no countries, It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for, And no religion too

Amen...

Great additions, everyone! Maybe we can put together a Matador Greatest Hits album?

Stevo-- I have to say that the David Hasselhoff number was a surprise addition! :)

How about Jack Johnson - Breakdown? It's perhaps a little more subtle than other "protest songs." But he manages to slip in a wish for everyown to slow down, focus on what's important, and most importantly...chill out.

Personally, one of my favorite songs is, Cat Steven's "Peace Train" because it reminds me to have hope for the future. Its upbeat tempo really makes one believe that change is possible. It’s inspiring and fun and catchy and just good.

As cheesy as it is: Looking for Freedom by David Hasselhoff was very influential in Germany near the end of the cold war.

Bob Dylan comes to mind. So many songs, but Blowin' In The Wind or The Times They Are A-Changin' woud probably fit best.
