Although I didn't go abroad with them, I traveled to other parts of the US as a part of their exchange program (and sold a BUNCH of oranges over three years :). Reading your piece actually triggered me about how those trips eventually led to me studying abroad in Italy in college - and then deeming it necessary to travel to as many places in the world as I could after graduating from college. You never know what those initial trips will lead to in the long run... Man, AFS takes me back to high school!
