Proud to be an Amurican? So are these folks….

Found these fantastic photos in my inbox this morning. I’m not sure where they originated, but God bless the folks who had their camera at the ready because I just love some good spelling errors, especially from self-righteous people like these:

haha, I love their pride holding the signs… total oblivious of how much they deserve to be mocked for them.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • http://gotpassport.wordpress.com/ GotPassport

Awesome post. Yes, please try to spell your primary language correctly before demanding other to learn and speak it. They won’t do well as travelers outside of their own state, let alone a foreign country. And yes we all know, Fox news is the only source of valid and reliable news for Americans.

  • Nick

Love it, brilliant stuff – especially how many of the signs relate to English!

  • dblainedblaine

Ah the brilliance of Fox “News” watchers.. I saw many of them in DC a couple of weeks ago, pretty funny indeed! It was a laugh a minute!

  • http://angryredhead.wordpress.com Candice

    HILARIOUS!

  • http:///www.ilovejeffro.com jeff

    All american! What a coincidence!

  • http://www.travel-writers-exchange.com Trisha Miller

Hilarious, but also SO sad……such hypocrisy.

  • http://www.vagabondstory.com Grant Lingel

So sad and so funny at the same time… also quite embarrassing.

  • http://almostfearless.com Christine Gilbert

Brilliant. I also love ones where they write, “Keep your government hands off my Medicare” because you know that’s totally privately run.

The other day I heard Glenn Beck refer to liberals as “fascist liberals” but really, politically speaking isn’t fascism a right wing movement? I mean aren’t the fascist’s ANTI-LIBERAL? Maybe that’s what he meant, a group of very confused fascist liberals who both blame the liberals for the problems of the world and want gay marriage to be legal. It must be tough.

Does anyone even know what they are talking about anymore? Does anyone care?

  • http://matadortrips.com/ Hal Amen

Ay-yay-yay…this is the America I’m NOT excited to be coming home to.

  • http://thebrooklynnomad.com Andrew

Hah! Luve itt. Thaht mayde meye dai!

  • niki

That one guy had 3 errors in his sign! He isn’t overtaxed. He just spent his money buying all those vowels and then couldn’t afford two more N’s and an L. And apparently amnesty is a REALLY hard word for right-wing weirdos to get right!

  • Kathy

“Fox News: keeping us all infromed”….love it! I just *hope* we are not underestimating the power of this lunatic fringe….

  • http://amanofnonation.blogspot.com/ Kevin Post

I believe it’s spelled “Merica”…you’re not supposed to pronounce the ‘A’.

    :P hehe

  • Chris

I make it a rule to never laugh at those that are this serious – idiots or otherwise.

Scary times when ideology takes precedence over rationality.

The irony in their boards are hilarious. Worth showing to ESL students to cheer them up when they think they are doing bad.

  • http://www.nehasweb.com neha

oh the trouble amnesty and language can cause!

  • vikramtrivedi

    Ha, AWESOME!

  • tom gates

Oh my god. These are amazing.

  • http://distanthiatus.wordpress.com Tisha

Wow. Hilarious and SO sad! They are all so proud of themselves too. Hahaha.

  • http://www.bearshapedsphere.blogspot.com eileen

one word (from one of the signs)

    AMEN-sty

  • Untermensch

Actually no. Fascism is a political theory that aligns the state and large corporations. As such, it has nothing to do with the left and right wing of the U.S. Both parties in the U.S. are corporatist in their outlook (look at the bipartisan support for TARP). When conservatives see individual mandate basically requiring everyone to purchase the products of an industry, that’s what they’re pointing to. Of course they ignore the things that their own party does in this area, but both parties have their fascist tendencies.

I love to see signs like that! Great article!

it’s like people have never heard of a dictionary.

Genuinely frightening… Not a shining example of America… Some of those signs looked like they were written by someone who couldn’t claim English as their primary language. The irony eludes them…

  • Kim

As an American, these nuts do not reflect the opinion or intelligence of most of us. All countries have their whackos…even your lovely, wonderful country.

  • Joel

Pretty funny, but I’ve seen a lot of these. Check out Morons With Signs, it is a whole blog of this stuff and it’s totally hilarious.

    Hugh? Like Hugh Grant?

And for more scariness or amusement, depending on your humor – http://lookatthisfuckingteabagger.com/ (can I post that?)

  • Adam

I don’t know why you guys are laughing – I get all MY infromation from Fox News.

  • http://yahoo Jack

Yes it’s all so very funny…I’m actually laughing at these posts!

Interesting however, that I know many Americans that do not know how to spell well, I know Americans that do not know how to read or even to write. I even know Americans that cannot articulate very well.

Does the lack of any one of these skills exclude them from being Americans? I think not. America is a way of life that the rest of the world envy’s. The question you Green Tree Hugging Left Wing Environmental Liberals should be asking yourselves is this…does the message of these God fearing protesters hold any validation? I think that it does. Lets leave the spelling bee’s for the children, children.

    • Adam

      Hey Jack,

Thanks for your comment, and I appreciate you keeping it respectful. It’s worth pointing out that the reason we’re focusing on these spelling errors is the fact that they’re being committed by people who want English (proper English!) to be the official language of the United States. One of the major arguments used by these groups is that if we don’t make English official, future generations will speak worse and worse English, until the survival of the language itself is threatened.

However, if you look at these pictures, you begin to realize that the people asking for this change are guilty of a certain degree of hypocrisy, since they themselves speak and write awful English. On the other hand, many of us bilingual Spanish-speakers use the language much more articulately (and with much better grammar and orthography) than the monolingual protesters.

I sincerely hope Jack is kidding… because that would be a prime example of the problem itself.

    1) America is not ant envy of the world, hasn’t been for a while.

    2) Criticizing others for something that you can’t do competently diminishes the value of your point. That’s all this post is about. No one’s saying they’re not American. Everyone is laughing at the stupidity of it though.

    3) I like the portrayal of liberals and the assumption anyone laughing at hypocrites is liberal. Because conservatives never mock and take others out of circumstance obviously.

    4) God has nothing to do with this: education does.

    5) Do they have valid points? No.

All in all, funny pics, no matter how often I see them.

  • Bethwark

Shame on you! I think it’s really stunning, the left, liberal, loving people are the meantest, most vile people I have ever met. I have known too many people who are unable to spell but, that makes no difference in the beliefs that they might have. I live in the United States of America where I have the freedom to demonstrate and stand for my OWN beliefs and I should be able to do that without the fear of any reprisal or fear of being hurt. Sadly, this wonderful country that I live in, that I have served has become a place where one side is actually afraid to voice their opinions and their thoughts. The “tea parties” are great things, where there has been NO violence, and no arrests. Demonstrations by the left, liberal types such as the groups that converged for the G20 in Pittsburgh PA are full of arrests, fights and people breaking the law. Windows were broken, Stores were robbed, and defaced, and the demonstrations were like gangs of wild animals. Shame on those people. I hope to live in the United Stated with people who will protest like the tea party groups have. Without the violence and hate. If that includes misspelled signs, then I’ll take them. I like that group much better!

And these are the SMART ONES!!

    It’s spelled “wacko.”

  • Mary

You can’t fix stupid. However, there should be some kind of punishment for bad spelling and poor grammar.

The most funny-in-a-bad-way thing about this is that the fewer taxes that these Tea-baggers want will result in even less funding for the school system.
