I DO remember those days, Hal. I repeatedly wrote and called AOL and asked them to stop sending the CDs, to no avail.

Remember when AOL used to send out those installation CDs every week? I spent an hour on the phone with them once convincing the associate–and his boss, and her boss–that I was NEVER going to sign up for AOL and they didn’t need to keep sending me their garbage. Not sure what the carbon footprint of that call was, but the CDs did stop.

I came home to a similar stack of mail this afternoon, and unfortunately, St. John’s has no curbside recycling. Aghh!

Abbie, this is so awesome! I’m taking an ecofeminism course right now as part of my MFA studies, and I’m really feeling inspired by this story. Thank you for showing me that there are other like-minded individuals out there. I’m going to go register at the No Mail site right now, and think about your example everytime I throw something in the trash/recycling.
