I agree with Hal, mind. There is so much bad news, that people tend to think screw it, everything is doomed anyway, so let's not bother to do anything. I'm sure we've all got trapped in conversations like this, and it's hard to find a way out. Here's my way: it's precisely when all is doomed that we must step up, and create the space for a bit of divine intervention (however you want to interpret that). Even if our efforts amount to nothing, that's not the point - it is the right thing to do. It's that simple. That is really scary! I agree with Hal, mind.
