Chile: a short poem
Return to Chile
Of my youth and diurnal dreams
Empanadas and Pisco straight
Elongated limb of extremes
Patagonian towers of grey-spired mass
to
Lake Chungará – exquisite mirror of snow-capped peaks
Incomparable port of my love
Valparaiso: steep streets to heaven
Where just to meander amongst ramshackle beauty
Is a sure path to joy
And Neruda said ‘The Pacific fell off the map’
Port of my love
