Many of us love travelling, checking out new places, cities and cultures, meeting new people and exploring beautiful corners of the world. However, there is no getting round it, travelling costs money, we can do it on the cheap or in style but however we travel we have to eat and sleep somewhere. What if you could travel for free? You could go anywhere and do anything with no financial cost involved. No financial cost but it will mean you will never look at life and this world in the same way, it will blow your mind wide open and you will wonder at the enormity of life and who you are.
Is it worth it? Indeed it is.
We can all get on this bus, you don’t have to take time off work, arrange for someone to look after the dog, cat or goldfish, ask the neighbour to water the plants or keep an eye on your house. All you need to do is sleep, and as we all do this anyway this form of travel is so easy to fit into our busy schedules. I am talking about inner travels. This is truly the greatest journey you could ever undertake.
Connecting with the inner you, with your consciousness, will take you to places beyond imagination. An added bonus is that you can also visit places here on Earth so if you are short on cash and have always wanted to visit Niagara Falls or the Grand Canyon you can do so. You can do so by discarding that lump of flesh that eats and sleeps and leave, just think, you don’t even have to pack a bag and you’ll be back in time for breakfast.
This method of travel is known as astral projection, or out-of-body experiences and is basically a process that involves allowing your physical body to sleep while your consciousness remains awake. In this way your consciousness is free to go where it wishes without having to drag the physical body along with it. There are no limits except the ones you place on yourself. You may use an energy body to travel or you may even discard that and go for a simple point or sphere of consciousness. The universe and beyond are yours as you go deeper into who you are.
Although the term out-of-body experiences implies external travel it is an inner journey, it is as if we, as humans, are on the outside and the real ‘us’, is inside, but beware, the inner worlds are so much bigger than we could ever imagine. For this reason your mind will be blown wide open, the greatest journey you could ever partake of is free but it is not for the faint-hearted.
This journey is not about being a tourist, getting on a tourist bus and getting off every so often to admire the view and take photos. There may be moments when you’re flying in beautiful green valleys with the view of an eagle in glorious flight but there are other moments where you come face to face with who you are, face to face with inner fears, what you think, what you believe, what you feel, you come face to face with it all. Whatever happens though you are being tested, you are testing yourself, a test only to see if you are ready for the next level, it is not about passing or failing rather it is a test of readiness. Are you ready to go to the next town or are there places in the present town you still need to visit? Are there aspects of yourself that still need attention before moving on? It is all about spiritual growth, your spiritual growth, it is all about you.
Travelling inwards will bring you many rewards, these rewards are earned, you cannot expect to grow without making an effort. It is the same with outer travels, the hardest journeys are the ones where you don’t just book a package holiday and leave with a trolley bag, credit card, cell phone and hotel booked. The hardest journeys are where you carry your own baggage on your back, you have little money and you’re not really sure where you’re going. Yes these are the hardest journeys but at the same time they are the most rewarding. Unexpected things happen, you meet interesting people with different cultures, you communicate even though you don’t understand each other’s language, you may even get lost but somehow there always seems to be a guardian angel disguised as a human who turns up to help.
Inner journeys start with dreams, dreams are the gateway to the beyond and to who you truly are. Use them wisely. Train yourself to remember more of your dreams they give you clues to what you need to do in your life. How maybe you need to change your perspective in order to have better experience.
We all have challenges in life, a challenge to one may not be a challenge to another, it is very difficult to see things from the point of view of someone else unless you can get in the head of another person and know all their life experiences and influences. So focus on you, on your inner experiences, who knows the outer ones may even sort themselves out. Dreams can help you deal with your challenges, learn to listen to them. What are they about? How do they make you feel? What is the dominating emotion you are left with on waking?
This is the starting point of going inwards, it is a process and there are no short cuts. If you truly understand spiritual growth then you will not entertain the idea of trying to skip ahead, there is no point as it is not a race. There is no cheating or playing the system. You will enjoy the process and learn so much about yourself, there is work to do but, as I said before, it is worth all the effort. You will be shown the path to follow, trust in your intuition and that the universe isn’t out to get you but is there to serve you.
‘Who am I?’ Was the question I started out with, it was the question I took into my dreams, a question I’d been asking since I was a child. I followed my dreams, I studied my dreams, I did all I could to understand them. I woke up in my dreams, that led to staying awake while my body fell asleep and there I was suddenly one night floating above my body. I was ready, poised for action, at another beginning, ……….. an adventure into self to find out the answer to the question I had started out with, ‘Who am I?’
