About one year ago I got the chance to visit the most beautiful country of Africa. Before I left, I didn’t know that it was, but now I can say it with full conviction: Ethiopia is the most beautiful and inspiring country.
In the city Awash, named after the main river in the Afar region, two little kids liked getting their picture taken.
Boy on the other side of the gate of our accomodation.
This bean was next to a painted barrel. Because fo the heath the paint was constantly wet and gave off paint to it surroundings
This was the view from our beds in the Afar capital Assayita. The 'hotel' we stayed provided us beds in the open air at the edge of a cliff. This is probably the most beautifull place I have ever been.
This picture was taken at a school. The children were really proud to show all their work.
These kids, probably orphans, were wandering around this beautiful place in the Afar region. They say people in Ethiopia go here for their honeymoon.
This was one of our guides, a muslim. His name was Mehari and one of the things that caught everyone's attention was his beautiful white smile. When we asked him what he used for his teeth, he showed us a branch of a tree. This is very often used in the horn of Africa.
Driving through Ethiopia we were often stopped by camels on the road. This little boy here had to take care of 10 camels all by himself.
Another boy who was proud to have education
This girl was waiting in front of a school for her older sister, who took care of her.
This is a school where Afar kids can go. The kids are all nomads so their parents don;'t know how to read or write, but thanks to these schools built in the area they can.
This is my buddy Samir's hand in my hand. Even now we still keep contact, even though that is not always easy.
We often used headscarfs to protect ourselves from the sun.
