All you wine fans…if thats what you call yourselves…head to Narayan Gaon, its a village in Maharastra, India
If you are in Pune its the perfect quick refreshing getaway, leaving you hung over and happy
Chateau
Indage is beautiful and easily accessible. All you have to do is take a
local transport bus from Shivaji Station in Pune, pay Rs. 40 and in two
hours you are at Narayan Gaon. From there you take a rickshaw to
Chateau Indage and Voila!!
Heres a tip: Travel like the locals do
by the State Transport bus its the best, fastest, cheapest, and most
fun way to get there; plus you have more money to splurge on cheese and
wine.
Once at Chateau Indage make sure you indulge in the wine
tasting its just Rs.150 and you get to try three white and three red
and one rose wine and lots n lotsa cheese…and by the end of it you
are quite merry
The bartender is French and very charming. He
sometimes even lets you finish the leftover wines from the wine tasting
leaving you merrier than before. Make sure you try out their food, its
a little steep and the portions are small but its delicious. Also
eating will help you get through another glass of wine.
The best
time to visit this place is probably in december when they have wine
festivals. You can even book a room right in the middle of the
vineyard…yes a vineyard!
Behind the restuarant is the vineyard
and its gorgeous. You can make a booking to walk through it and get a
guide to explain the different grapes and take you back and show you
how wonderful wine is brewed (is that the word for it?)
Sorry by the
time i got to the guided tour i was too buzzed to remember much else,
so i would suggest taking the tour before the wine tasting.hehe
This
place has something for everyone, its heaven for wine enthusiasts,
perfect for those who want to know what village life is like and a good
day of fun for college students on a budget because this is the best
place for quality and low priced wine (as it was for my friends and I)
This is one of the few places in India that offers a one of a kind experience and its a must see and a must drink.
