One half of the "Set of Drifters" duo (look for our blog online), there's no doubt that I am part gypsy. (No seriously, part of my family lineage hails from "Old Bohemia" Slovakia.) And it's that gypsy blood that has transplanted me all over the United States, taking up residence in cities as diverse as Miami, San Francisco, Phoenix, Los Angeles, New York and (suburban) Chicago. It is there where my earliest travel memories begin.

While living in Lake Zurich (Illinois), my parents would often take my sister and I on weekend trips north to Wisconsin. I was fascinated by places like Wisconsin Dells, and resorts such as "Lake Lawn Lodge," that offered themed kitsch well before I even knew what that was. It was always wonderful to experience new people and places that seemed so different from my normal daily life.

Later, my family enjoyed numerous road trips throughout the Eastern Seaboard and the mighty South. At age 10, my parents relocated us to the Southwest. From our base of Scottsdale, we would often take short jaunts to Southern California and Mexico. It's entirely possible that my insatiable appetite for the open road, and travel in general, stems from these many fond family vacation memories.

As far further exploration beyond the United States is concerned, it was not until the last decade that I was able to start experiencing the intriguing places from the "Indiana Jones" and "James Bond" films that so caught my imagination as a young child. A barely-planned trip to London and Paris in 2004 was the first introduction to a much larger world, and one that ultimately set the tone for the type of travel that I so enjoy.

Your "Set of Drifters" Doug and I really find pleasure in taking it easy while traveling, "going with the flow" so to speak... Sure, we want to see the sights, but ultimately, we want to emulate that "fly on the wall" that is fortunate enough to soak in the essence of how the locals really live... just not until the point where it isn't fun anymore!

Aside from travel, my passions include a plethora of artistic pursuits - writing, painting, photography, music and film. If I am not chipping away at my novel, paintings or new mixshow, you might just find me reading in the bathtub, out dancing with friends, or yes, watching bad television! My first book, "Stars of the Desert" was released in August 2011.
