Jacob James is a dedicated and passionate Humanitarian documentary photographer and film maker. Jacob specialises in providing a range of multimedia solutions to aid non-profits in creating thought provoking social-awareness campaigns. He has worked with some incredible non profits such as Mae Tao Clinic, Compasio and many more…

Jacob also has a slightly obsessive love for travelling. Throughout his journeys he aims to travel with minimal impact on the local areas. Staying in low-cost family run accommodation, eating local food and traveling by local transport where possible he is able to get much more intimate images that really do flow with emotion.

With a passion for black and white portraiture, his images have been commended worldwide and recently published in two books with connections to Google+. His work has already been supported by some of the top photographic manufacturers such as Manfrotto, SmallHD, ThinkTank Photo, Rycote, Beachtek, Cintetactics and many more

I ran into Jacob James while browsing through Google+. I’ve always been inspired by people who knew exactly what they wanted to do from a young age. My passion for photography didn’t develop until I was 24. Even then I didn’t really see the importance of it until much later. Jacob left me in awe for a couple of reasons. The first and foremost is he’s a great photographer, especially being so young. Secondly, he already understands the importance of photography and is doing things with it to change people’s lives. – Andy (unknownphotographer.net)

During 2012 he will be working on a short documentary film and photo book on the problems faced by people living on the Thai-Burmese border that will be expanding on the work he produced in 2011. During his time in Thailand he will again be working with a select number of NGOs offering vital services such as healthcare, education and housing to vulnerable people who have been forced out of Burma due to the on-going conflict. When in Thailand, these people are unable to gain the correct paperwork to leave the areas in which they live. Often forced to live in refugee camps, small forest villages or even on rubbish dumps for these people education and good healthcare is their only hope.

Jacob is also a member and supporter of various organisations who work to promote peace, freedom, education, healthcare and inspiration across the globe. As well as a member of photographic organisations such as the YPA and IGVP,
