On a rainy day in April, 1990, in a one-horse town in north-central Oklahoma, a little girl was born. With a head full of jet-black hair that contrasted with her Air Force Blue-colored eyes, the child took her first breaths in a big world, having no sense of what her life would be beyond the feel of her mother's embraces, the tears and laughter of a family in celebration, the sound of Spring rain on the windowpane, and the bright lights of a small hospital room in Native America.

Flash forward (nearly) 23 years later. I, that blue-eyed Oklahoma girl, am growing up. It seems, though, that with every year that passes, I try even harder to reclaim that sense of wonder and adventure and beauty that I had as a child, traveling the country.

I am a Pipeliner's daughter. And step-daughter, granddaughter, and great-grandaughter. Now, I am a Pipeliner myself, carrying on family tradition, I suppose. Anyway, being born into a family that works on the Pipeline, I spent a vast majority (the good majority) of my childhood traveling the United States.

My father's work took us all over the country, while my mother homeschooled my sister and I. I spent my first birthday in Las Vegas, Nevada. From riding jet skis in Tampa Bay to whale watching in Nova Scotia, and from losing myself in the bright lights of the Vegas Strip to exploring the woods of northern Wisconsin, my life was a constant adventure. From the backseat of my mother's Taurus, I would stare out the window and wonder where that highway would take me next. The world was big and beautiful and full of excitement and magic, and I was happy.

Then, just barely a teenager, my parents divorced. We chose to live with my mother, so we put down roots back in a tiny town in Oklahoma. My world was upside down.. not because of my parent's divorce, or entering the public school system, or having to start our lives all over from scratch. No, I was devastated because my life of adventure was over. Or so I thought..

Some years later, I realized that those years I spent on the open road, seeing things and meeting people and experiencing the wonders of this world, were the happiest of my life thus far. I decided then that no matter what it took, I was meant to see the world, and write about it.

Which has brought me here. As a Pipeliner, I get to travel the country for work, and the pay is good, so I can save up for my adventures abroad. Someday, I'd like to be a travel writer.

I just think that there is so much magic and beauty left in this world, and I want to see it, feel it, LIVE IT before it is gone.
