Wow. It’s been so long since I’ve posted here. Life has been rich and full. I hiked 1375 miles of the Appalachian Trail this spring then came back to Colorado to prepare for my year of teaching in China. I leave tomorrow! Not sure if I’ll be able to access Matador during this time but I will certainly try. Here is what I posted on my blog (www.thisopenroad.wordpress.com) yesterday and I’d like to share it here as well:
I began feeling the rumblings of change early this year. It was exciting because I knew something was up and that I would follow through on the inclinations, but I wasn’t sure how the ideas bouncing around in my head were going organize themselves into The Plan. Then one afternoon everything became clear during an intense and cathartic discussion with a good friend. At the end of our talk I knew I’d be going back on the AT and would go overseas to teach. I didn’t know the details or how it would all happen, I just knew that it would. The intention was set, people and opportunities showed up and by April I was on my way. Out of that winter afternoon session came several epiphanies that I’ll carry with me from now on. You are welcome to take them as your own.

[*] It’s time for your next big thing
[*] You can start fresh anytime
[*] Set your intention – the HOWs will resolve themselves
[*] Don’t overthink it
[*] This can just be the way you live
[*] You don’t have to justify it or prove it
[*] Even though society embraces the concept of struggle you don’t have to
[*] It doesn’t have to be a struggle
[*] Love and accept your bold and adventurous spirit
[*] (forgive yourself for thinking you trapped your bold and adventurous spirit)
[*] You don’t have to take care of others by containing your bold and adventurous spirit
[*] Release the concept of “blowing it” – There is no “blowing it”
[*] Expressing your true spirit is an action of highest good and benefits all beings
[*] You can experience your life the way you choose
(The title of this post was taken from a quote on a coffee cup given to me by my friend Monica. Both of us like to listen to the voices in our hearts and sometimes in our heads.)

I like this post. I’m leaving for Antarctica for 6 months, and a years worth of traveling Asia thereafter. So you and I are in the same mindset. In fact, I’ve just recently realized the same things you’ve newly discovered… liberating isn’t it?
Where in China will you be? Perhaps I will be passing through the way
