Bali: Scenes of Ordinary Life
Bali._Spirituality_is_in_Life.jpg
There’s a fair amount of good reasons to visit Bali – awesome landscapes, amazing temples, vast beaches, fine handicrafts, and so on – but there’s something which, in my view, is very peculiar to Bali: its people and the ubiquitous spirituality.
Bali is one of the easiest country to make a wild journey, going around without a specific program, just willing to explore the beauty that can appear any time and any place. To get at least a little taste of what Bali is, one should look at the Balinese people (mostly serene and smiling), have a walk through the rice terraces to discover not only the beauty of the nature but also the farmers’ hard life, stroll around the little villages to see the houses, their little colourful private temples and the women creating wonderful handicrafts.
Another unforgettable experience is to attend a burial ceremony and discover the peculiar way the Balinese deal with death, so different from the way we are used to approach it in the Western countries.
People, culture and spirituality of the Balinese people are one of the most fascinating features of this beautiful island and I tried to captivate a little piece of it in a brief photo essay.
Well… the reality is much better but at least it can give an idea…
