Did you know there is no Zambia volunteer visa? Technically you’re not allowed to volunteer in Zambia with just a tourist visa. If you are volunteering, you need a business visa, even though you are not being paid. You can get a business visa on arrival, but if you are volunteering more than one month, you need to know how to get your Zambia visa extended. Here’s what you will need and, more importantly, what to expect.
When volunteering in Zambia, getting a visa upon arrival is easy. Be prepared with a photocopy of your passport, $50 USD (exactly, in cash), Yellow Fever immunization card, and the name and address of the company you will be working for. The Zambian visa on arrival is single entry only, and valid for 30 days. To get a multiple entry visa you need to apply prior to entering the country.
If you’ll be volunteering in Zambia more than 30 days, you must go to the Zambian Immigration Department before your 30 day business visa expires. Having your paperwork neat, organized, and complete makes everyone’s life easier.
