Gap Adventures ‘Sense Appeal’ Photo Contest

Gap Adventures believes that to truly experience a destination is to get off the beaten track and involve all of your senses.

That’s why they’re inviting you to submit your best travel photograph in one of five categories—sight, taste, smell, sound and touch. The Grand Prize winner will receive a US$1,500 travel voucher from Gap Adventures and a MatadorU Photo Scholarship. We’ll also choose a runner up who will receive a US$250 travel voucher.

Gap Adventures embraces “authentic accommodation, exotic cuisine, and local transportation” on their trips. Their unique approach to small group tours helps connect people with fascinating cultures, customs, and wildlife around the world.

How It Works

The contest is run by Gap Adventures and sponsored by MatadorU. The contest runs from August 23, 2010 – September 26, 2010.

Winners will be notified by e-mail and announced in our e-newsletter bridging the gap no later than September 30, 2010. Once a winner has been notified by e-mail of their win, they will have 2 weeks to contact the Gap Adventures reservations team who will require all of their contact details and review the procedures for claiming a prize / booking a trip.

Prizing

Grand Prize Winner (1)

The grand prize winner will receive a $1,500 USD value discount voucher from Gap Adventures, valid towards the tour price of future bookings, along with a MatadorU Travel Photography Scholarship $350USD Total value of Grand Prize is $1,850USD. The grand prize winner will also have their photo published on the Gap Adventures blog.

Runner-up Winner (1)

The runner up winner will receive a $250USD value discount voucher from Gap Adventures, valid towards the tour price of future bookings Total value of Runner-up Prize is $250USD

General Contest Rules

All prizes are non-transferable and substitutions will not be permitted. Travel vouchers are valid for the upfront tour costs of bookings on guaranteed departure dates only, and travel must be completed within 1 year of contest end date. Travel vouchers can not be used towards Discovery Adventures, Air Canada Vacations, Canada Goose Adventures, insurance or other third party services as determined. Winners will be notified by email and announced in our e-newsletter no later than one month after the end date of the contest. It is the responsibility of the winner to contact the Gap Adventures reservations department within 2 weeks of their winning email notification. Failure to do so will likely result in forfeiting the prize, and an alternate winner being chosen.

By submitting images to our photo contest you give Gap Adventures the legal right to use and publish your submitted materials for future brochures, websites, newsletters and other campaigns without compensation. Other options are available to professional photographers and writers who seek compensation for their work, please contact the Gap Adventures marketing department. Some entries will be selected and acknowledged in the Gap Adventures e-newsletter bridging the gap, in addition to the winning entries.

Entrants acknowledge that all entries, must be their own original content. Participants must be 18 years of age or older.

Participants acknowledge these contest rules are to be interpreted in accordance with the laws of Canada and laws of Ontario. By entering the contest and agreeing to our terms and conditions, the winners confirm their eligibility and compliance with the contest rules and release Gap Adventures, its partners and affiliates and their respective advertising and promotional agencies from all liability caused by, or resulting from, the acceptance or use of the contest prize.

This contest is open to all participants, except employees of Gap Adventures, its partners and affiliates and their respective advertising and promotional agencies. Residents of countries or provinces where they are prohibited or restricted in entering online contests are also prohibited from entering.

Gap Adventures its partners, sponsors, affiliates and their respective advertising and promotional agencies each assume no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, or misdirected entries, or for any failure of the website or voting process during this contest, for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, services, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Gap Adventures on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or the website or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrants, or any other persons computer, related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion.

Gap Adventures reserves the right to extend the duration of any of our photo contests. Gap Adventures reserves the right to change the terms of this contest, or terminate it at any time, without prior notice.

All entries become the property of Gap Adventures and none will be returned. No correspondence will be entered into except with the selected entrants who will be notified by email and announced in our e-newsletter. Entrants, by entering this contest, agree to abide by these contest rules. Contest winners must consent to the use of their name or photograph, without compensation, in any publicity carried out by Gap Adventures.

Entrants agree that the personal information collected for purposes of this contest can be collected, used and disclosed by Gap Adventures in accordance with its privacy policy which is available on its web site.
