This is probably the best possible contemporary list anyone could put together. However, it is missing many of the classics. Many of the readers here may be too young to remember the 1960s groundbreaking Sierra Club Exhibit Format Series that invented the coffee table photography book with such titles as Ansel Adam's "This Is The American Earth," Philip Hyde's "Slickrock," and the hardbound version of Eliot Porter's "In Wildness Is The Preservation of the World." These books will remain timeless long after some of the other trends of today have died.

The only one I own already is the National Geographic photo collection. Thanks to your list, there are now 2 others on my radar. Cheers. Sandy

To Kelly, Thanks! i tried to keep it fun and diverse. To Collazo Projects , they are all great, but there is a reason Steve McCurry is first on the list. and for those of you who dont know Steve McCurry is a member of Magnum and is in the Magnum Magnum book.

Ryan- Fantastic list. I don't think you could go wrong with any book by McCurry, and the Magnum book is one of my favorites. Thanks for this list.
