I sewed little pockets into my underwear (and into the waistband of a few of my skirts) for my last backpacking trip. It worked great and it only took me a few minutes to do. I would just put what I needed for the day in my wallet and I knew that the rest would be safe. Plus if I need to get more cash for whatever reason I could just pop into a washroom and it was easy to access. I've tried the bra thing but I think this works way better.

If you're traveling with children - I like to put cash in THEIR backpack - seems no-one wants kids snacks and books, but I've seen many a hairy eyeball glancing at MY pack.
