So sad really. It’s as stupid as Western women trying to look like a barbie doll. It just doesn’t look right. Asian features are so beautiful. Especially the jet black hair and full lips. I’ve been dying my hair black, wearing white talc on my face and trying to make my eye makeup more Asian for years. I guess we’re all dissatisfied with our own self image. I wonder how many women are actually happy with what they were born with. Japanese women will bleach their skin whereas Australian women will go to solariums and risk skin cancer all for some beauty ideal?

The glue scares me more, particularly when seeing school aged girls on the subway with the plastic “fork” dipped in glue, and pushing it into their eye folds. The train, by the way is moving when they’re gluing their eyes.

I used to have a couple of students who used the stickers to make “Western Eyes”. Let’s just say the first time I saw them I thought I needed to call a doctor. Very scary!

Makeup is intimidating for me too, and the US market seems to boom with cosmetics as is, but Japan was absolutely mind boggling. Thanks for commenting.
