You may never need it, but it is helpful in an emergency. We had neglected to do this once when our dog was stung by a bee while traveling and his entire face swelled up. Luckily there was a vet close by so we were able to get treatment before his airway closed off. Having been through that experience we now make sure we have our research done ahead of time. It was so good to meet a fellow traveller who travels with her pet. I travel with my cat!! People in my village hold my cat in high esteem as they don´t believe he has a passport til they see it!
