Tim- I own a Flip and can offer a review based on my experience using it for the past six months or so. The Flip is super for taking what Lola calls "visual notes"--capturing quick images of a place discreetly. Unless you're close up to your subject, you're unlikely to get good quality video-- the zoom function is pretty useless (there's no slow, controlled zoom; it's jerky) and the sound quality will be pretty poor-- there's not an external mic. That being said, if you're close to your subject, the Flip can produce some pretty decent video that's easy to work with. I made this video: <a href="http://collazoprojects.com/2008/10/22/jazz-in-mex..." target="_blank">http://collazoprojects.com/2008/10/22/jazz-in-mex... using the Flip. And I just took my clips, downloaded them into Windows Movie Maker, published it to my laptop and then uploaded and broadcast it via YouTube. Battery life-- the Flip uses two AA batteries. I've never actually timed the battery life, but I charged up my batteries on Monday and shot at least four hours of video at Guantanamo Bay this week (downloading at the end of each day) and the batteries still have juice. Bottom line? Great little lightweight device that allows discreet video and capture of close up subjects.

Would have liked to have seen the full specs on reviews. MP and battery life. But I would never criticize some one as beautiful as Lola ;-)
