This sounds quite cool. The price is really steep though, but I suppose it’s probably worth it if you know you’ll be using the language a lot.

Funny. Was actually having a conversation with a friend today who was using Rosetta Stone Russian a while back that went like this:

(Me): How’s Rosetta Stone going? I’m currently reviewing the Swedish version.

(Friend): Haven’t touched it in a while. but i still remember every word i learned 2 years ago. it really sticks.

I guess Rosetta Stone’s highly interactive format works extremely well. Just like Michelle also noted above.

The price will always be a sticking point unless there’s some restructuring that happens or they start to sell modules separately as well.

Ok- so the price still pinches, but the studio feature is a definite bonus, and the total number of lessons blows the free BBC option out of the water.

Rosetta Stone sounds awesome, but I’m glad that Lola’s reviews are also bringing out all these other language learning resources.

Rosetta Stone certainly has a quality product, and if you have the cash it is a great program. But damn is it pricey!!

If you are learning Spanish or English, and are looking for more of a “practice” environment, as opposed to a learning environment, then Lenguajero http://www.lenguajero.com might be a better deal. You can have conversation exchanges with native speakers, write in the language you are learning and get feedback from native speakers, study flashcards, and ask questions in the forum. The site is totally free.

If you are interested in a more structured learning environment for less money Babbel (http://www.babbel.com) just announced this week that they have moved from being a Freemium service to a Premium service. It is WAAAY cheaper than Rosetta Stone, and a real quality service.

Wow, this sounds incredible. I used Rosetta for six months (just a very basic package) to start Portuguese before moving to Brazil, and I loved it. I actually really looked forward to sitting down every night and starting a new lesson.
