Apple’s latest advertisement for the iPad is a not-so-subtle homage to the Newton.

Remember this Newton commercial from 1993? Neither do I. It’s fairly entertaining though – hey, this thing can receive a page and send faxes and electronic mail!

But the guys at MacRumor realized recently that this Newton commercial is actually the inspiration for latest iPad ad. I’m thinking the latter might be a tad more successful.
