The iPad really makes a big buzz like the iPhone when it launch a few years back. But the iPad creates a negative and positive feedback to all consumers and it will probably be popular when it answers the issues surrounding it.

i'd say a lot of those points would be valid - but who exactly is using this as their soul platform? i plan on getting one, but only because it happens to fit my needs perfectly.

my iphone bill is $100 a month. after it expires, i'm getting a dumbphone with a 20-30 monthly phone bill. i'll get the 16gb ipad and pay 30 a month for 3g. that nearly cuts my monthly bill in half. i can have the ipad in my bag wherever i go and have access to a better screen for movies, a bigger interface for apps (music apps being my favourite) which would be a Godsend. a larger gps, video chat (if incorporated), a way to hook up a physical keyboard to type on, and ya. i don't see any restrictions for me, because i'll have altrenate methods as my main computing base. if i don't want to carry around the larger ipad, i'll leave it at home and bring my non-activated iphone with me. plus 40-50$ cheaper a month like i said. it's a complete win-win for me.

something in line with what this article says, but i rarely have heard mentioned, is how apple, in a way, has been locking you into their platform. while it's not everyone, it's a majority - the iphone is the highest owned phone. i have spent hundrends of dollars on apps. i know a couple people who have spent over a thousand. when competitors come to play, or even if someone considered an ipad as a notebook replacement, your wallet is tugging you towards apple's side. people will feel they will have wasted all of that money on those apps if they cant use them. at least in a small way, that's an incentive for me to pick an apple product. its convenient for me, since i would have planned on getting one anyway, but for others it may not be so simple.

The iPad is not designed to replace the iMac or Macbook. It's simply a new product.

That second photo is not by nDevilTV - looks like one of those trolls who just takes credit for other people's work. It was created by Brian Lam of Gizmodo.
