JVC Everio HD Camcorder
As part of our Matador Twitter contests, we’re spotlighting cool gear to give away to lucky readers.

Valued at roughly $800, the latest Everio GZ-HM550BUS is a dual memory Full High Definition (HD) camcorder complete with Bluetooth compatibility. Videos are recorded at 10.6 megapixels (MP) quality while still digital photographs are snapped at a resolution of 9.3 MP.

Its Bluetooth compatibility allows you to use the following devices as a remote control for the camcorder, as well as use headsets as an audio recorder:

RIM

  • BlackBerry Bold 9000
  • BlackBerry Curve 8900
  • BlackBerry Curve 8310

HTC

  • Touch Diamond
  • Touch Pro

You can geo-tag videos and photographs by using the camcorder with a GPS device to record location data. According to JVC, “…the data synchronizes with Google Earth™ when viewing the file on a PC using the bundled Everio MediaBrowser software.”

Its dual memory offering comes with a 32GB internal storage as well as external SD memory card support.

More on the GZ-HM550:

Older model

  • Super LoLux improves low-light sensitivity to capture clear images with precise colors even in low-light environments.
  • KONICA MINOLTA HD LENS – currently one of the world’s smallest and slimmest HD lenses – offers 16x dynamic zoom without any degradation of picture quality.
  • 10.62 megapixel Back-illuminated CMOS sensor enables shooting of 1920 x 1080 Full HD videos and real nine megapixel digital stills.
