Good effort on the article and also writing the book Kelsey.

Just a quick line, 'Capitalism at work' my friend, well, that is just the problem. Capitalism and consumerism, for as long as they are around, will always mean workers in sweat shops. 'Choosing the right brand' is the fuel of the flames of this inequality that we have between East and West.
I have respect for you getting off the couch and writing this book, but I think that by advocating 'buycotts' it only fuels the problem that is Capitalism even more, rather than contributing to solving it.

Eva,

I really appreciate the way that you push beyond given ideas of right and wrong, travelers and non-travelers, etc. I keep finding myself reading your comments and thinking, "yeah, that!" This is a great article that avoids any sort of preachiness or didacticism. I particularly love Kelsey's comment about reactions to his column in rural Ohio. My parents live in rural Ohio, and my family lives in Columbus, and going back in recent years I've been surprised (I apologize if this sounds condescending, but the U.S receives so much negative publicity that these kinds of things are sometimes surprising when one doesn't live there) how many people say to me that they will not buy something made in China, or that they try to follow where their products come from...I think it's fantastic that Kelsey has written a book that appeals to my fellow Ohioans and that he is really drawing connections between different parts of the world.

Excellent interview - I think the idea of the "buycott" makes so much more sense. It's positive action, rather than negative reaction. Looking forward to checking out the book!
