Jerry's Record's in Pittsburgh, PA. Over 9 million records and they are incredibly easy to find. You will never meet anyone nicer than Jerry, I guarantee it.

Totally agree to that! The Beat is a great all around music haven, with vinyl, CDs, music videos, and posters. I have some great subway sized posters from there framed and hung in my music room. Can't wait to go back there someday!

I prefer 2nd Ave, even though the owner is a B. But Crossroads is a great one too.

TD's CDs and LPs in Bloomington, Indiana and Reckless Records in Chicago are two of my all-time favorites. I've been to tons but I just feel home at these two seeing as how I've been going to them for so long.

I'm surprised to see some of these record shops on this list, nothing wrong with seeing Amoeba records on a greatest record shops list as they belong there but Gramaphone? This shop is hardly worth mention as they mostly have a few genres of music and lots of terrible quality bootleg vinyls can be found here,

don't even get me started on Hard To Find, agreed among vinyl collectors to be one of the hands down worst shopping experience for your average vinyl enthusiast, overgraded beat up expensive plates is the norm here not to mention the bootlegs they themselves put out that sound like they were recorded straight to lacquer off youtube.

Why even mention Fat Beats even if they were still in business (NYC shop anyway), at the height of their popularity there were plenty of stores that blew them away and are even still in business like Rock N Soul. Sandbox automatic threw them under the bus years ago surpassing their selection not to mention getting rid of the whole record shop clerk being a snob to you thing which I always found in abundance at fat beats.

Wah Wah & Vinyl Junkies OK sure I have no experience with them in over 20 years collecting vinyl in all genres but there are plenty of other vinyl shopping experiences that either meet or surpass the shopping experience at Amoeba,

The Thing in Brooklyn for instance where something like over a million vinyls in all genres can be found for 2 bucks soaked in cat pee in their basement. Hardwax in Berlin,

guess what I'm getting at is the writer has no idea and probably never shopped for a vinyl in his life. Also the whole going to the record shop thing seems to be going out in favor faced with the instant gratification via websites like discogs.com where every vinyl can be found for a small fraction of the price shops like those mentioned would charge you.
