Depends what you're using, like Oolung said. When my friend did this with apples we had the apples with frozen yoghurt as a dessert. Bit strong for me - I'm not a fan of alcoholic desserts - but she loved it! It could also be nice with natural yoghurt or if the thing you're using is tart (I'm making it with berries at the moment) a scoop of vanilla ice-cream :)

This is great thanks, trying this with muddled berries :) Do you know roughly how long it would take? If I wasn't TOO fussy (I'm not, as I'm just experimenting at the moment) would it be any good after 1 night? would be great to have some on Christmas Day... :3

Another flavor that works EXTREMELY well that some people might not think about is skittles. Just get a big bag of skittles and separate all the different flavors into the jars of vodka and after infusion your vodka literally tastes like candy.

Joanna, it depends on what you decide to chuck into the jar. I know from experience that sweet cherries are divine, better actually than the alcohol itself. With sweet cherries it's also a good idea to add some cinnamon sticks, maybe cloves.

I know the delights of home brewing all too well :-) What we make at home is not vodka, but liquors, though (and this is where the tip about cherries come from, so it might not be as perfect with just vodka). The process is basically the same: you take the flavouring items, put them in the jar, then add sugar (helps to release the juice), then pure spirit. Wait a few months, drain - and I dare any cold in winter to come close to you! Pure, delicious, liquid health.

(Now I feel like I'm betraying family secrets... but - a-hah! - it all comes down to the proportions and the quality of the ingredients)
