Going for the record.

The Outside Blog is reporting that Laura Dekker, the 15-year-old Dutch sailor attempting to break the world record for youngest solo circumnavigation of the globe, has reached St. Maarten in the Caribbean after 17 days at sea.

Dekker made the news last year when she ran away to the Caribbean after being denied permission by Dutch authorities to begin her trip. You can read more about her in Matador Sports’ article Sailing Around the World At 13: How Young is Too Young?
