MatadorU student and regular MatadorAbroad contributor, Camden Luxford, opened the Yamanyá Backpackers Hostel in Cusco, Peru this month.

Rachel y los Berries rocked out at the opening and will be performing regularly.

The hostel offers free breakfast, free Internet and WiFi, and free luggage storage.

And later this year, they’ll be adding a temperature-controlled stone swimming pool.

judging from the photographs, the hostel looks fun, and has a lot more personality than most of the other one’s i’ve stayed in.

just wondering though, where exactly in cusco is the hostel?

Woo! Thanks everyone for the kind comments! We’re over the moon with how it turned out – wait till we’re done with the pool! Jenna, we’re on Calle San Andres, about three blocks from the Plaza de Armas. I’m still recovering from the shock of finding a big house with a pool in the middle of the Centro Hístorico. Too lucky.

Will be looking forward to ALL of you visiting!

Love the pics! Totally impressed with how the place looks, and with free breakfast and internet I’m sure you’ll get a lot of guests. Can’t wait to see how this place develops.

Thanks Neha and Heather! I’ve escaped for a few weeks to Australia but the boys tell me things are growing – just a matter of waiting for word to spread right now! Which is much easier with Matador on side :) Thanks guys
