Truthfully, though, I was going to mention the Weakerthans instead, but wasn't sure how well known they are outside of Canada. Tim, if you can get your hands on Da Capo Best Music Writing 2003, it has a fantastic piece on the band and their connection with the city - could even be described as travel writing, at a stretch. It's called "City Still Breathing" and was originally published in Geist, but it's not in their online archive. I think you'd like it! Better than the Guess Who?! Rock’n'roll heresy! :D

Truthfully, though, I was going to mention the Weakerthans instead, but wasn’t sure how well known they are outside of Canada. Tim, if you can get your hands on Da Capo Best Music Writing 2003, it has a fantastic piece on the band and their connection with the city – could even be described as travel writing, at a stretch. It’s called “City Still Breathing” and was originally published in Geist, but it’s not in their online archive. I think you’d like it!
