A man in London is reporting that he was shot three times while attempting to flee a threatening gunman — and all because he was wearing a Barack Obama t-shirt.

The gunman had previously approached the victim, Dube Egwuatu, and shouted racial slurs in relation to the t-shirt. After Egwuatu walked away, the man followed him to his car and opened fire.

From the UPI story:

“I couldn’t believe it was happening — and just because I was wearing an Obama T-shirt. He was trying to make me walk somewhere quieter, saying: ‘I’ve got something for you,’ and ‘I’m going to kill you.’”

Egwuatu was able to drive away while being fired on, and is in stable condition.
