This Photographer Wonderfully Disorients the Way You Look at Landmarks

Instagrammer Rich McCor (@paperboyo) decided to become a tourist in his own city, London, and start photographing famous landmarks in an original way. Now he has partnered up with Lonely Planet and created more of these photos around Europe.

Big Ben (London, England)

London Eye (London, England)

Tower Bridge (London, England)

Arc de Triomphe (Paris, France)

Towards the end of WWI, France built a ‘Second Paris’ near the capital city to confuse German pilots. It was located near the town of Maisons-Laffitte, on a stretch of the River Seine. As well as replicas of iconic landmarks, including the Arc de Triomphe, it even had sham streets lined with electric lights so that from the sky it would look like a real city. Montemarte (Paris, France)

Novelists James Joyce and Ernest Hemingway were drinking buddies in Paris- often picking fights on their drunken nights out. Famously, Hemingway took a urinal from his favourite bar in Paris and had it installed into his American abode, arguing that he had “pissed away” so much money into the urinal that he owned it #montmartre #basiliquedusacrecoeur #hemingway #karate #silhouette #instaart #paris #parisjetaime #parisian #topparisphoto #visitparis #parismaville @paris_tourisme #igersparis #loves_paris #igersfrance #instagram #forcedperspective #citytrip #wanderlust #travel #adventure #passionpassport #architecture #travelandlife #intrepidtravel #adventureinstagoodmyphoto #guardiancities #guardiantravelsnaps #bestintravel

Musée du Louvre (Paris, France)

Hi to the newbies- thanks for checking out my insta. Here’s a new one from my trip to Paris at le weekend 👆When the Mona Lisa was stolen from the Louvre, the museum shut down for nine days, the French border was closed and all departing ships and trains were searched. The mystery wasn’t solved until two years later though, when the thief turned out to be Vincenzo Peruggia, a carpenter who had been working at the museum and knew all the exits and escape routes. Peruggia had even helped build the glass case that the Mona Lisa was displayed in, so he knew how to get the painting out. At closing time, he hid in a broom closet and then walked out an exit after dark holding the Mona Lisa under his coat. The Little Mermaid (Copenhagen, Denmark)

Vor Frelsers Kirke (Copenhagen, Denmark)

Calligraphy in the skies above CPH. This helix spire belongs to the Church of Our Saviour. There are rumours that the architect jumped from the top of the spire and killed himself when he realised that the spiral was built the wrong way- anticlockwise around. Sounds like an urban myth to me but maybe I’m wrong…#copenhagen #denmark #visitcopenhagen #VisitDenmark #somewhereincopenhagen #citytrip #igerscopenhagen #wanderlust #travel #adventure #passionpassport #featuremevisitcopenhagen #sharingcph #architecture #travelandlife #intrepidtravel #bestintravel #adventureinstagoodmyphoto #guardiancities #guardiantravelsnaps #calligraphy #font #sky #typography #fonts #art #VorFrelsersKirke #paperart #silhouette #architecturelovers

Rådhuset Metro (Stockholm, Sweden)

The Af Chapman (Stockholm, Sweden)

The Af Chapman boat has had almost as many lives as a cat- it began travelling the world transporting goods, the Swedish Navy then bought it and used it as a training ship and then in WW2 it was used as barracks. After the war it was saved from being scrapped and today it’s moored up on Skeppsholmen. The great thing is, you can rent a room and spend the night onboard #wanderlust #travel #stockholm #visitstockholm #igersstockholm #this_is_stockholm #viewstockholm #stockholm_insta #stockholmfoto #stoccolma #adventure #passionpassport #passport #boat #ship #silhouette #instaphoto #instaart #paperart #cutout #afchapman #hostel #gamlastan #igswstockholm0915 #skeppsholmen @stockholmboats #hotel #sailing #stockholm_insta #instagoodmyphoto #mashpics

Canals of Amsterdam (Amsterdam, The Netherlands)

Shot for #lpkids (@lonelyplanet’s brand for little adventurers) Theres still mystery surrounding the night Dutch artist Van Gogh lost his ear, but some people think fellow painter Paul Gauguin was responsible for cutting it off during a heated argument and that Van Gogh took responsibility to protect Gauguin from persecution (because he admired him deeply). Or perhaps Van Gogh really did just have an accident with his razor blade. Whatever happened the two artists never saw each other again and Van Gogh checked himself into a mental asylum a few days later #lonelyplanet #amsterdam #amsterdamcity #traveladdict #amstergram #citytrip #thankyouamsterdam #igersamsterdam #loves_amsterdam #awesomeamsterdam #iamsterdam #wanderlust #travelgram #instaphoto #travel #adventure #sunshine #paint #art #artist #painting #instaart #amsterdamworld #vacation #holland #netherlands #artist #vangogh #flowers @amsterdamworld
