NASA has a picture a day website and the 10 best photos from 2010 can be seen at Houston News blog. It features some pretty amazing images like the shuttle Atlantis taking off and my favorite, the birth of a star in a giant dust pillar seen here.

For more otherworldly images, there’s always ones right here on earth.
