Travis Pastrana kicks off the New Year in style – with a 269-foot jump in a rally car.

He’s won multiple X Games medals, but being a first-class motocross rider isn’t enough for Travis Pastrana. In recent years, he’s joined the Rally America circuit and performed stunts like jumping out of an airplane without a parachute and trying to do a flip in a monster truck.

On Thursday night, Pastrana started 2010 with yet another stunt: flying a car. His 269-foot jump onto a barge in Long Beach beat the previous record by nearly 100 feet.

From all of us at Matador, have an extreme year!
