X Games rally driver Tanner Foust shows off his drifting chops in California.

ORIGINALLY DEVELOPED by street racers in Japan, drifting is one of auto racing’s flashiest disciplines. Drivers powerslide their way around a twisting course, earning points for the speed, style, and precision of their skids.

Tanner Foust, the driver in the video, is a two-time Formula DRIFT champion and an X Games gold medalist in rally. He’s also largely responsible for introducing drifting to the American mainstream through his work as a stunt driver in movies like The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (think of this clip like that, but without the painful acting).

You can watch Foust in the X Games this week, where he’ll be competing in rally and SuperRally.
