I experienced digestion trouble in Cuzco (11,000ft.) earlier this year, and then the same thing this past week in Colorado (10,000ft.). The thing is, I've been to the same spots in CO many, many times before and never had a problem. I guess each time is different.

It might be a good thing to point out that drinking "Coca Mate" will show up on drug tests as cocaine. Travelers that have jobs that test for drugs have been bitten by this one before. TMYK

Great Piece Adam. I experienced altitude sickness up at Cotopaxi in Ecuador. The world tilted on its side and everything in tunnel vision slo mo. Mate de Coca / Coca Tea is really effective.

One thing I'd mention--it was hard to eat anything like pasta / rice or the other 'meals' we'd brought. At the time I needed just easy to 'get-down' calories like chocolate bars. Didn't have enough.
