Would be interesting to hear from more Sydneysiders who didn't grow up near the harbour! I just got back and had a great time. It was excellent not having to battle crowds...there were no lines getting food or drinks, and we just slunk into our tent after the fireworks. The feature pic at the top doesn't do it justice...you can actually see the Harbour Bridge from the island too and all the fireworks shot off of it. I usually watch them from Balmain, when I'm in Sydney. As a native Sydneysider, I find it hard to believe that many Sydneysiders won't have heard of Cockatoo Island.
