The tower was then called Burj Dubai but has since changed it's name due to the emir of abu dhabi bailing out dubai for it's economic crisis. Still think it is an arabic phallic symbol!! Holy smokes. I know this is impressive and everything but it still seems like such a waste. On a side note, Sharjah used to be a major cricket venue.
