It's a touristy walk up to the church, but we had a knowledgeable tour guide, and seeing the tide come in and surround the fortress is a memorable experience (especially if you're out walking around it when the tide warnings go off. We weren't sure if it was serious, headed in anyway, and when we looked out from inside the walls, we were surrounded by water. They were serious). I loved Mont St. Michel.
