Is this route still accessible? I'm worried that it's been blocked off and we'd have to go to La Reina.

The trail is CLOSED on Mondays? this is truly bizarre (and useful) information. Is it the whole area that is closed on Mondays, or just the trail? I'm sorry for your wasted effort, and had no idea that nature could be closed on a specific day!

Just tried this hike myself. All info above worked well (caught the CO2 bus to the Estadio and went to the gate), except for the lovely fact that the trail is closed on Mondays.

Once Again: The trail is CLOSED on Mondays. Such is latin america.

We considered a hike to manquehue nearby but instead are opting for a small afternoon hike up Santa Lucia this afternoon, and will try tomorrow.

Got lost for a whole day? uh-oh. My friends call it San Carlos de Apoquindo, and my apologies for not specifying it is at the Estadio San Carlos de Apoquindo. It is also where the hike to El Naranjo starts from, though the hike itself is not that easy to find. We took a few false starts and ended up on a narrow access road before finding the trail.

I really hope you can find it, as it is beautiful, and if not, the hike to El Naranjo is lovely as well, and gets way more visitors, so should be easier to navigate to, though the starting points are both beyond the gates where they ask for your cell phone number.

Please let us know how it works out, and my apologies for your lost day!

A group of friends (myself included) tried to do this hike yesterday to no avail.

A note for future hikers, San Carlos de Apoquindo is a street, a clinic, an area AND a stadium. When I asked the 421 bus driver (I speak fluent Spanish so I know it wasn't some sort of mix up) to drop us at San Carlos de Apoquindo, he left us near DUOC and Universidad de los Andes.

We asked 4 people in the area if they new where the trail started, including a guardia at the university. The guard pointed us to a trail (more of an unpaved road) and even though I knew we weren't in the right spot we gave it a go. It took us up the hill and past a few dodgy campamentos and we decided to head back.

I'm still not sure where the trail starts, from behind the stadium (which, by the way, isn't on the road San Carlos de Apoquindo)?

Basically we lost a good part of the day trying to find the damn start!

We'll try again next weekend, it really sounds like a great hike, hopefully we'll have better luck finding it.
