Growing up during the Cold War and hearing so many stories of attempted escapes, brutal suppression, etc., I never would have dreamed that anything good could have come out of that time. That it has should give us hope for other tortured regions. And I'll bet it would be a really, really interesting place to visit. How wonderful!
