Hey Allison,
I am heading down to the DR soon, and was just wondering if you knew any local chartering companies where I could go with 3 friends on a day sail?
We are not interested in any of the super touristy booze-cruises, just wanted a skipper and a small sail boat!
Any ideas? Thanks.

Hello Allison,

My question is similar to Kate's. My girlfriend and I will be heading to the DR this coming January for my friends wedding in Punta Cana (Dreams Resort). I'm not too much of a resort type of person and I would love to be able to see more of the island, eat real DR food, and meet people outside of the resort. I would greatly appreciate your input on the following.

1. I've read that the distance between Santo Domingo and Punta Cana is about 3 hours by car. What type of bus options are available and how would you recommend getting between those two places?
2. Would you recommend we fly into Punta Cana or Santo Domingo?
3. Any suggestions on things to do outside of the resorts in Punta Cana?

Thanks for your time in advance!

Hi Allison!
I've been to Puerta Plata once before on a family vacay and I'm going back to Puerta Plata in February. Unfortunately I am on an all-inclusive trip but I really want to explore the island and get off the beaten path! Do you have any reccomendations of where to explore? Where to eat? Where to party ? I'd love your input! Do you know anything about the Samana Peninsula ? I've read that it is Domican's "last frontier". . .
Hope to hear back from you

Allison-

What was the documentary?
I laughed about larimar because Puerto Rico also says it's the only country where larimar is found! :)
For all the time I've spent in the Caribbean (mostly PR and Cuba), I still haven't been to the DR; got to remedy that soon.
